Pakistani forces retaliate after firing on South Waziristan border posts

Pakistani security forces responded to unprovoked firing from Afghanistan after several border posts came under attack. The Deputy Commissioner of South Waziristan confirmed that the forces launched an immediate counter-operation.

According to the official, Pakistani troops carried out an effective response against the firing. During the operation, they targeted multiple Afghan border posts, mortar positions and defensive installations.

The deputy commissioner said the strong response forced Afghan Taliban personnel to leave their positions. They reportedly abandoned their border posts and fled following the retaliatory action.

No casualties were reported in the Pakistani border areas, according to the deputy commissioner. However, officials did not provide details about losses or damage on the Afghan side.

The incident prompted a renewed warning from the district administration. The deputy commissioner said Pakistan’s security forces remained ready to respond to any form of aggression along the border.

Authorities have not released further details about the exchange of fire. The situation remains a security concern as Pakistani forces maintain vigilance along the border.
