PTI, government talks end without agreement

PTI, government talks

Islamabad: Government and opposition representatives failed to reach an agreement during negotiations aimed at resolving the political dispute surrounding PTI’s planned march towards Islamabad.

The talks continued for several hours but remained focused on major differences between the two sides. Opposition representatives have sought access to PTI founder Imran Khan, including a meeting with his personal doctors.

The government side has also raised concerns regarding the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and cooperation against terrorism.

PTI leaders have indicated that the party’s planned protest remains in place despite the negotiations. The lack of consensus has increased uncertainty over the political situation in the capital.

Both sides had entered negotiations in an effort to prevent confrontation and find a political solution to the dispute. However, the latest round ended without a clear agreement on the issues raised by the opposition.

The talks are being closely watched as the PTI protest is expected to put additional pressure on the federal government and security authorities.

Authorities have already increased security arrangements in Islamabad, while additional personnel have been deployed in preparation for possible demonstrations.
